RB Portis out 4-6 weeks
UPDATED: 10/06/2010

Redskins RB Clinton Portis is expected to miss four to six weeks with a third-degree groin separation.

Portis suffered the injury in Washington's Week Four win over the Eagles and was replaced by RB Ryan Torain, who ran for 70 yards and a touchdown in Portis' absence. Torian is expected to get the start in Washington's Week Five game against the Packers and will be backed up by the newly signed Chad Simpson.

Way we see it

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan has made a career out of turning no-name backs into legitimate runners, and he could do the same again with Torain. Not only did the second-year back put up good numbers against the Eagles, but he did it with an impressive running style.

The Redskins have hoped to at least have the threat of a power running game, and Torain gives them that option.
