Talk about your big bets.
Someone placed a seven-figure wager on the Colts to win Super Bowl XLIV at an MGM Mirage sportsbook. Yes, by seven figures, we mean 'million-dollar.' The wager was on the money line, which requires a team simply to win, not cover the pointspread, for the bettor to win.
Jay Rood, the race and sportsbook director at MGM Mirage, wouldn't disclose the exact amount of the wager or the identity of the bettor when I interviewed him Friday. All I know is that the wager ended in six zeroes.
Rood also said he's taken "several six-figure" bets on the Saints' money line. He said MGM Mirage will take "plenty of six-figure bets" on the Super Bowl.
