Strong Points

Rare athlete for a linebacker. Moves like a defensive back. Has speed, change of direction and body control. He is a top competitor who plays an aggressive game. Strong and explosive. Great tackler. Can dominate games. Good in coverage with good ball reactions. Excellent ability to take on and shed blocks both at the line of scrimmage and on the move. Great pursuit player.

Weak Points

Had devastating knee injury in the Fiesta Bowl. Lacks sack production (but he is not used as a pass rusher very often), can get caught out of position at times.

The Way We See It

A third-year junior and a three-year starter. Perhaps the best linebacker in this draft. Is scheme versatile in that he can play inside or outside in any scheme. His sack production should not be an issue as he isn’t used to rush the passer that often. There is not much he can’t do, but he needs to play a bit more disciplined game because he will get caught out of position at times. Before his injury, he would have been a top five-to-eight selection. There is no telling where he will go now, but when he gets back to 100 percent health he has Pro-Bowl potential. Until more is known about how long he will be out, he will be a wild card type selection. Could still go in the first, or he might get drafted much later.
