Strong Points

Has great overall athleticism, moves around like a defensive back. Has easy change of direction and body control with loose hips to turn and run. Shows top instincts and is around the ball. He is a good hitter and can shed on the moves. A very good overall tackler with some big-time hitting ability. Effective when used as a pass rusher. Has rare cover skills for a linebacker.

Weak Points

Does not play to his measured size. Plays more like a 220-225 pound guy. Not a physical point-of-attack player. Would rather elude blocks than take them on. Better in space than in tight quarters. Missed most of the season with a knee injury.

The Way We See It

Jack is a third-year junior and a three year starter. Has also played some running back. He got hurt early in the season and was unable to play anymore. He is not a proto-typical linebacker or used as such. He is often lined up 5 to 6 yards off the line. He has great speed and athleticism and can’t be outrun. He is a great pursuit player and space player but not a top point-of-attack player. Can be slow to shed when up against linemen. He would rather elude a block than stack at the line. Plays in coverage like a DB and that’s what separates him from other linebackers. He is not for all schemes and his best position might be as a Will in a 4-3. Some clubs may even want to line him up at strong safety. Whereever he lines up, he will be a difference-maker after a period of adjustment.
