The PFW staff brings you its late-week fantasy tips for quarterbacks, in which Josh Freeman and Russell Wilson should be strong plays, while the Eagles' leaky offensive line makes it difficult to have confidence in Michael Vick.
Seahawks QB Russell Wilson looks like he just might be on the cusp of really spreading his fantasy wings. In the Seahawks’ best offensive performance of the season last week in the win over Minnesota, Wilson threw three TD passes (two to WR Golden Tate) and now has a 5-1 TD-interception ratio in the last two games. He also, it appears, is being encouraged to operate more on the run, as evidenced by his 9-27 rushing last week, and his legs provide an extra fantasy dimension that could result in a few TD runs down the stretch. Our sources in Seattle have been telling us for weeks that the offense has been handicapped by the fact Tate, Sidney Rice and slot specialist Doug Baldwin have been unable to play at the same time due to injuries. But all three receivers look to be healthy now, and the team’s improved offensive numbers show as much and bode well for Wilson.
For owners in deeper leagues, Josh Freeman warrants strong consideration as a low-end No. 1 QB this week. He has produced a TD-INT ratio of 11-1 in the four games since Tampa Bay’s bye, and has a favorable matchup at home, where he has a TD-INT ratio of 8-2 in four games this season, against the Chargers’ 18th-ranked pass defense on Sunday.
With the Eagles’ offensive line in disrepair, do you want to start Michael Vick? We hope you have the sense — and the backup on your roster — to seek out alternatives. Vick is often good for a big play or two (see his 77-yard TD pass last week in a blowout loss) but can’t be written in as a reliable option vs. Dallas and its strong defense.
