Week 14 QB tips: Wilson could go off on Cards
UPDATED: 12/06/2012

The PFW staff brings you its late week fantasy tips for quarterbacks, in which Matt Schaub and Josh Freeman should keep up their strong recent play, and Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck are reliable rookies you shouldn't overlook.

Texans QB Matt Schaub has been on a tear since Week 11, with a combined 1,049 passing yards, eight TDs and three interceptions over that span. Another big day could be in the offing Sunday, as the Texans travel to Foxborough to battle the NFL’s 29th-ranked pass defense. The Texans are banged up on “D,” so if Tom Brady is able to get an early lead for the Pats, Schaub has shown the ability to put up some big points, making him a very attractive start this week.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is a developing fantasy force at just the right time. Wilson’s passing-yardage totals have steadily increased each of the last four games, culminating with his 293-yard, two-TD effort in the win over the Bears last Sunday. He has an off-the-charts 9-0 TD-interception ratio in that span. Looking for more noteworthy fantasy numbers on the ascending rookie signalcaller? At CenturyLink Field, which is where he will be playing this Sunday vs. Arizona, Wilson has a stunning 11-0 TD-interception ratio. In addition, he has been offering an extra fantasy dimension lately with his legs, gaining 6.8 yards per carry in the last three games (21-143), including a season-high 71 yards rushing on nine carries vs. the Bears. This Sunday, Wilson will be operating vs. an Arizona run defense that has allowed at least 173 yards rushing in three of their past four games (177 last week).

He has cooled off a bit from his hot streak during the middle portion of the season, but Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman has thrown multiple touchdown passes in seven of the past eight games and has a good matchup Sunday vs. the Eagles’ pass defense. Freeman is worth a start in most formats at home against Philadelphia, which allowed nine passing TDs in the past three games.

Colts QB Andrew Luck completed 26-of-38 for 297 yards, one TD and one interception in his Week Eight matchup against the Titans. Tennessee’s “D” played well against the Texans last week, but Luck is still a strong play, particularly given the fact that RB Donald Brown is hurt again.
