Week 17 TE tips: Finley could go out with a bang
Week 17 TE tips: Finley could go out with a bang
UPDATED: 12/27/2012

PFW's late-week fantasy tips for tight ends:

There’s reason to believe Packers TE Jermichael Finley could be saving his best fantasy efforts for last in what most close observers believe are his final days in a Green Bay uniform. It behooves Finley to go out in a blaze of glory against the Vikings this Sunday, if he is indeed on the way out, as it will enhance his value on the open market. In recent weeks, Finley has come on a bit, gaining at least 60 yards in four of the last six games (including a 6-60 game vs. the Vikings in Week 13). If Randall Cobb is unable to play, Finley could be Aaron Rodgers’ primary weapon in the slot.

If Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski is active for Sunday, he would still be a very shaky start in fantasy. New England needs him as healthy as possible for the playoff run, and Aaron Hernandez would likely get the bulk of the tight-end targets, followed by Michael Hoomanawanui.

Texans TE Owen Daniels (hamstring, neck) was limited in practice Wednesday. Daniels has proven throughout his career that he can play — and be productive — without a lot of practice time, however, keep an eye on his status leading up to Sunday’s pivotal matchup against the Colts. Daniels was quiet in the two teams’ Week 15 meeting (4-40-0), but the Colts have had their share of issues with covering TEs this season.

Bills TE Dorin Dickerson had eight targets last week and led the team with 54 yards receiving on four catches. He could get more targets with Scott Chandler out, though is only worth a consideration in deep leagues as an injury fill-in.
