The injury bug has bitten the popular preseason Super Bowl favorite again. Reports have surfaced that Packers LB Nick Barnett will miss the rest of the 2010 season after suffering a wrist injury in Sunday's Week Four win over the Lions.
Barnett plans to get a second opinion this week, but has reportedly resigned himself to the fact that the injury — which is similar to the one that ended Bears LB Brian Urlacher's 2009 season — will require season-ending surgery.
The Packers have already lost RB Ryan Grant (ankle) and rookie S Morgan Burnett (ACL) for the season, S Nick Collins (knee) sat out Wednesday's practice and LB Brandon Chillar is nursing a shoulder injury.
Barnett has started 103 games in his career, all with the Packers, and has 15½ career sacks.
The way we see it
This would be another huge blow to a Packers team that has looked vulnerable the past two weeks with a loss to the Bears and a close win over the winless Lions. The defense had question marks coming into the season and losing Barnett, a vocal leader on the defense, just makes matters worse.
