The Cardinals announced Tuesday that they have activated RB Beanie Wells from the physically-unable-to-perform list.

Wells, who underwent knee surgery in January, was placed on the PUP list July 24 after sitting out during offseason practices while he recovered from the knee procedure. He reportedly participated in the Cardinals' walk-through practice Tuesday, and the team is hoping he is ready to play in an Aug. 17 preseason game vs. the Raiders.

A fourth-year veteran, Wells is coming off the best season of his career. He rushed 245 times for 1,047 yards (4.3 ypc) and 10 touchdowns in 2011.
