49ers QB Alex Smith sustained a concussion in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Rams.

On a four-yard run, Smith was concussed after a hit by Rams OLB Jo-Lonn Dunbar. He will not return to the game.

Second-year QB Colin Kaepernick took over for Smith. The 49ers trailed the Rams 14-7 at halftime.
