The 49ers will release RB Brandon Jacobs on Monday, Jim Harbaugh confirmed to reporters.

Jacobs played in only two games this season and had five carries for seven yards. He was suspended for the final three games of the regular season.

Jacobs, 30, had 571 rushing yards and seven touchdowns for the Giants last season.
