The Patriots signed QB Mike Kafka and DE Marcus Benard to reserve/future contracts on Friday. 

Kafka was released by the Eagles prior to the 2012 season. He appeared in four games in 2011 and completed 11-of-16 passes for 107 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions.

Benard played in four games for the Browns in 2011 and had three tackles. The previous season, he recorded 7½ sacks in 15 games.
