Jaguars hire Caldwell as GM
UPDATED: 01/08/2013

The Jaguars have agreed to name Falcons director of player personnel David Caldwell their new general manager, Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer first reported.

Caldwell oversaw the college and pro scouting efforts in Atlanta and worked closely with GM Thomas Dimitroff. He was promoted to director of player personnel prior to the 2012 season.

Before the promotion, Caldwell had been the Falcons’ director of college scouting. When he was promoted, Caldwell replaced Les Snead, who was hired last year as the Rams’ new general manager.

In Jacksonville, Caldwell joins new owner Shahid Khan and replaces Gene Smith. He is expected to factor in the decision involving the future of head coach Mike Mularkey. Caldwell was also considered a candidate for the Jets' GM position.
