Reports: Griffin to have surgery on LCL
Reports: Griffin to have surgery on LCL
UPDATED: 01/08/2013

Redskins QB Robert Griffin III will undergo surgery on a torn LCL, which will determine the extent of damage to his ACL, ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported.

Griffin saw Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday for a second MRI and opinion on his knee, which he reinjured in Sunday’s wild-card loss to the Seahawks.

An initial MRI indicated that Griffin partially tore his ACL and LCL, though further test results needed to show if those were new or old injuries. This surgery will repair the LCL and determine if the ACL needs surgery.
