UPDATED: 01/08/2013

Doug Marrone has made his first significant hire, and it’s a familiar one.

Marrone hired Nathaniel Hackett to be the Bills’ new offensive coordinator, according to The Buffalo News. Hackett worked under Marrone as Syracuse’s offensive coordinator the past two seasons. In 2012, Syracuse was 18th in the FBS in total offense.

Hackett, 33, was the Bills’ offensive quality control coach from 2008-09 before heading to Syracuse. His other NFL experience was with the Buccaneers as their offensive quality control coach from 2006-07.
