Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis named Hue Jackson the team’s running backs coach and special assistant to the head coach on Wednesday.

“This is all about us getting better as an offensive team,” Lewis said. “It was a tremendous development for our staff that we were able to get Hue last year, and now I’m excited to expand his role.”

Jackson replaces Jim Anderson, who was the Bengals’ running backs coach since 1984. Jackson rejoined Cincinnati in 2012 as an assistant last year to work with the secondary and special teams. He was the Bengals’ wide receivers coach from 2004-06.

Prior to returning to the Bengals, Jackson was the Raiders’ head coach in 2011.
