He is soft spoken but confident without being at all cocky, good-natured and clearly enjoying his first NFL experience.
In a five-minute visit today, he began every answer with a quick and extremely genuine laugh as if to say “Isn’t this great?”
Gentry knows things are going well so far but quickly throws the brakes on anything sounding overconfident.
“Yeah, I feel like I’ve had a strong camp and I’ve shown some things that I can bring to the team,” Gentry said. “I think I still have a long ways to go and some things to work on and I’ve just been trying to learn from these veteran receivers and from our coaches.”
More than anything Gentry has shown himself to be the master of the contested ball and he says it’s not by accident.
“Yeah, my whole life from a young age my Dad who played receiver in college has always taught me that when the ball is in the air you go get it and that’s your ball so that’s kind of how I play and yeah, 50-50 balls I feel like that’s kind of where I excel,” he said.
