In addition to the two first-rounders, the Saints appear to have hit on their lower picks. S Marcus Williams has flashed playmaking ability early. RB-KR Alvin Kamara looks like a great change-of-pace runner and receiver. Both are stuck behind talented players at their respective positions, but each are expected to contribute early.
After Kamara, the Saints had two more promising picks in Round 3. At worst, LB Alex Anzalone will be a valuable special teamer early, with the chance to grow into a role on defense. DE Trey Hendrickson has been banged up early, but the scouting staff was said to really like him coming out.
And don’t forget about sixth-round DE Al-Quadin Muhammad, who opened some eyes in the preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns. He might be a keeper based on the early returns.
