The Dolphins didn't seriously entertain those offers then. So why the change now?
Certainly, things have changed dramatically since the season-ending injury to QB Ryan Tannehill and the signing of Jay Cutler. A more positive development has been the emergence of DeVante Parker, a 2019 free agent-to-be, and the Dolphins might decide they only want to pay one wideout top dollar in the next few seasons.
There also is the factor of Landry's domestic violence investigation this offseason. Although Landry's girlfriend strongly came to his defense, it might have been enough for the team to not want to commit to Landry long term. Owner Stephen Ross said a few years ago he instilled a "zero tolerance" policy against domestic violence.
So if Landry is indeed available, we think the Cleveland Browns could be a very real option.
