TE Davis and WR Crabtree argue at 49ers practice
UPDATED: 09/01/2010

The 49ers are counting on TE Vernon Davis and WR Michael Crabtree to produce many highlights on the field this season. On Wednesday, the pair contributed one that didn't have head coach Mike Singletary smiling.

Davis and Crabtree had to be separated at practice after yelling at each other during a drill, then Singletary brought both players into the locker room for a conversation. The meeting between the three men lasted for 10 minutes before Davis returned to the field, with Crabtree and Singletary following out nine minutes after that. The coach said the dispute was not football related.

"There is no more elephants in the room," Singletary said at a news conference following practice. "The elephant was exposed."

Neither player spoke to the media.

Davis, who caught 13 touchdown passes in 2009, is a team captain. Crabtree is in his first full season of training camp after holding out until early-October last year.
