During a Monday press conference, it was made official that there will be a new arena football league in 2010, Arena Football 1.
Combining teams from the now-defunct Arena Football and arenafootball2, the Arena Football 1 will not have any affiliation with these leagues, though the rules will be exactly the same.
The teams will be: Arizona, Arkansas, Bossier-Shreveport, Central Valley, Chicago, Iowa, Jacksonville, Kentucky, Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Spokane, Tennessee Valley, Tri-Cities, Tulsa and Utah. Teams will play 16-game seasons.
The press conference was a short one, and it basically just confirmed the speculation that a new league would be formed for the upcoming season as well as laying out the basic framework for the league. Commissioner Jerry Kurz said that further details will be sorted out in the coming weeks.
